Anna's hummingbird. Canon 100 mm L f/2.8 IS USM lens. On camera strobe at 1/32 power in manual. Thanks to everyone who views or favs this photo. Thanks especially to <IsacGoulart> who chose this work for a Daily Deviation.
I was sitting on a four foot ladder right next to his feeder. I usually do not use 'on camera' strobe for these shots, but I was just fooling around seeing if I could get an unusual shot and this guy flew by. I was shooting 8 frames/sec with the strobe at 1/16th power. Luck has the most to do with it though. Generally I get one good(unusual) shot per thousand.
Thanks Walt, sorry to hear your in a cold spell, but spring is coming. I myself are not to inclined to spend a lot of time on the computer either just carving, and sometimes a little to much! Take care my friend and yes we will talk more!
LOL XD Wow... A person said that it would really set off a seizure and I was like, "Well, I hope that doesn't happen. " I can't remove the non-transparent frames and replace them with transparent ones!!
Someone also said it looks like a glitching kitten.
I have both Nikon and Canon systems, but I've been upgrading my Canon system as I'm starting to prefer Canon to Nikon. Also I prefer the 7D to the 5DmkIII for birds. I use the Nikons mainly in the evening and for sports. The D700 is still a top notch camera while the D7000 is fast, light and sharp!
Thanks! Worry about nothing, John! I'm so far behind I'd have to speed up to stop. I've been meaning to answer you last comment, but, as you may have noticed, I haven't. I'm spending less and less time on the computer and doing photography. I did get out today, but it was below 70 and; therefore, cold for us. Hopefully things will pick up in the spring. Happy New Year to you too! I hope you keep selling your little houses at a record pace. Keep in touch!
That's good too! :'D like in the Hunger Games, Peeta is from the word Pita (like for Pita bread because he's a baker's son) and so on. Flower names are nice too (but a bit mainstream you know?) I also like mixing Latin names. Like i want to name one of my characters after a giant beautiful ancient bird called the Argentavis Magnificens, so i mix the letters of both words and associate them to the character. A character's name says a lot about who they are, so i'm always careful. (apart from with my first OCs hahaha)
I like curious names. Like giving girls' names to guys and guys' names to girls. And I love mixing names of different countries that have the same meaning. Like one of my OCs is called Kaiya, which written in one way can mean port (like a boat port) and "cheerful, good to be around" in another. Names <3
